“Così fan tutte is an opera I know well and have already performed several times, notably with Les Talens Lyriques at Dijon Opéra in 2012. This work, which has its roots in the seventeenth centu – ry, is for that reason both extremely appealing and highly complex, especially because of its Marivauxstyle love play, which is very much associated with that period and can be difficult to perform in a modern setting. The same applies to the music, which is clearly typical of the eighteenth century. For the stage production at the Théâtre Musical du Châtelet, I am therefore delighted to accompany the stage director Dimitri Tcherniakov in a new reading of this work, with an ideal cast. At the Mozartfest in Würzburg, we will be per – forming Così fan tutte with other, no less fabulous performers in a concert version, so it will be up to us alone to bring out all drama of the work.”
