When Couperin published the first four pieces of the Concerts royaux, he promised that “if the public likes them as much as the late king did (Louis XIV), I have enough to complete several additional volumes”.
Sure enough, two years later (1724) he brought out the sequel, a single volume entitled Les Goûts-réünis, ou Nouveaux Concerts containing the ten works on the present recording.
