Talens Lyriques' artistic and educational residencies in schools:
Spotlight project
Educational project at Fernand Léger High School in Ivry-sur-Seine in 2022-2023: “The Mechanics of Love”.

This short film, directed by Théo Sixou, is the result of the work of students during Soundpainting workshops (improvisation and collective music creation) led by Aurélie Branger. As part of the artistic and educational residency of Les Talens Lyriques at Fernand Léger High School in Ivry-sur-Seine, students from CAP Vehicle Maintenance and Production and Service in Restoration were introduced to music and audiovisuals through artistic practice workshops led by Aurélie Branger and Théo Sixou, as well as an artistic and cultural education program. During the 2022-2023 school year, students benefited from 30 hours of Soundpainting workshops and 20 hours of cinema workshops to produce this short film shot over 3 days.

This film, about love, is the result of their work supported and supervised by professionals: Inès Bedrouni, Louis Muller, Maëlle Corbelet, Louis Dardé, Léo Guillaume, Louis Muller, Justine Piquard, and Claire Ferrasse.

Soundtrack recorded by musicians from Les Talens Lyriques: Alexandra Delcroix-Vulcan on violin, Marjolaine Cambon on viola da gamba, and Jorge Silva on harpsichord, with musical creation by Charles Sinz.

Artistic practice

Artistic practice is at the heart of Les Talens Lyriques’ educational projects. Through workshops in writing, vocal practice and declamation or musical practice, students are invited to create as a group under the guidance of our cultural mediator. Each year or school has its own project!

The Talens Lyriques flagship project: the orchestra class.
Les Talens Lyriques trains non-musician pupils to play in an orchestra by providing them with a musical instrument (strings, brass, percussion, keyboard) for 3 to 4 years. Pupils benefit from two hours a week of collective learning led by our cultural mediator and music from Les Talens Lyriques, during school time.

In 2023-2024, Les Talens Lyriques will complete a 3-year cycle with pupils from the Anton Makarenko school in Ivry-sur-Seine. They will have taken part in the orchestra class from year 4 to year 6.

Discovering music venues

The Talens Lyriques’ artistic and educational residencies offer a comprehensive introduction to music, including exploration of emblematic sites. Through themed guided tours and hands-on workshops, students discover the Château de Versailles, its opera house and gardens, the Musée de la Musique at the Cité de la Musique – Philharmonie de Paris and the venues where Les Talens Lyriques perform: the Théâtre du Châtelet, the Opéra-Comique and the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, for example.

Residency highlights

Guided rehearsals – At their school or in the concert halls themselves, students are plunged into the heart of the orchestra during guided rehearsals specially for them by our cultural mediator. They learn to recognise the different instruments, discover musical works and the demanding work of an orchestra.

Class concerts – These small-scale concerts with Talens Lyriques artists provide an opportunity for direct exchanges between students, teachers and artists. Presented by the Talens Lyriques cultural mediator, the concerts help to prepare the pupils for certain repertoires, composers, instruments or works that the pupils can then rediscover by attending our concerts or performances. These in-class concerts break away from the codes of the classical concert, establishing a close relationship and dialogue during these privileged moments between the artists and the pupils.
